jelly roll sampler #11

Block 11 scared me but it actually went together fine. I didn't notice that the center square was cut at a slant until it was finished. I am not fixing it!

One Thing One Week Challenge

Surely I can finish one thing in a week if I put my mind to it! This week I choose the bad luck baby quilt that has been in process for almost 3 years. I will share the bad luck story next week when I hopefully show a finished quilt. Thank you Amy's Creative Side  for the nudge to finish up.

Charming Girls' Quilt Club

I decided to join the Charming Girls' Quilt Club. I'm not sure what it's all about but keep seeing it on blogs and everyone seems so Happy to be a part of this group.
My sewing goals for July/August are :
1) Finish the baby quilt I'm hand quilting. I'll tell the hysterical story of this quilt when it's finished.
2)Keep up on my jelly roll sampler quilts.
3)Bind one of the quilts I made with my great-grandma's quilt tops.
4)finish two outfits for the grandbaby.

Self-care is something I need to work on. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in March. I think if I lost some weight I could stop taking the diabetes meds. My self-care goals for July/August are:
1)stick to my low carb diet
2)exercise every day
3)make time for beach days
4)less computer and tv time....more reading

I hope I did this right and can be a member of the club :_)

a blast from the past

I found this great old quilt in my Mama's closet. It was made by her Grandma and mother in Alamance North Carolina sometime pre 1950. Now it's mine! Hope to get it outside for some better photos this weekend.

like a broken record

All I seem to post lately are jelly roll sampler blocks. I'm using leftover jelly roll strips from a tote bag project and some Jinny Beyer fabric I bought on clearance several years ago.

I like it so far....maybe a teeny bit better than the black, white and green blocks. It's so hot and humid in eastern NC that staying inside and sewing makes sense to me.
Thanks to my new followers, I'm going to try to be a better blogger :_)

I want to sew something easy!

Block 10 of the jelly roll sampler did not pass the easy test! Rusty and Dixie did not make laying the quilt out for my daughter easy either.
She liked it though. I really need a design wall. I bought a big flannel backed tablecloth to use for a design wall, but my walls are plaster and it is hard for me to nail any kind of hanger up. I am enjoying the jelly roll sampler but I really want to start my schnibbles quilt. I may break my own rule (have to finish 2 things before starting something new) and start a quilt from my Schnibbles times Two book right now :_)

jelly roll sampler catch up

I had the morning off and I'm trying to catch up on my jelly roll sampler. I really liked this block.
